KARACHI:
As the Supreme Court (SC) takes up the appeals against scrapping of the delimitation process in Sindh, another political party has joined the legal battle.

Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, the president of the Sindh United Party (SUP), filed a petition with the SC’s Karachi registry on Tuesday to be made part of the hearing. Shah said that his party had previously approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) Sukkur circuit bench against the process of delimitation initiated by the district administration in violation of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013. However, before the bench could make a decision, another SHC bench in Karachi passed a judgment, nullifying the entire delimitation process.

The SUP president appealed to the apex court to allow him to join the hearing on the Sindh government’s appeals against the SHC’s verdict.

The SC bench is scheduled to take up eight appeals of the Sindh government against the high court’s ruling regarding the delimitation process for the local government elections.
