Development: OGDC striving to meet energy needs
The company’s Nashpa-IV project is in the final stage, which will help ease the current energy crisis.
ISLAMABAD:
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has been pursuing its projects effectively to meet the country’s growing energy needs and add more gas to the system. The company’s Nashpa-IV project is in the final stage, which will help ease the current energy crisis. According to an official source, the project will contribute 4,500 barrel oil and 12-15 MMCD gas to the system respectively. The government had commenced work on the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on fast-track basis as Qatar had agreed to provide 400 MMCFD LNG to Pakistan by November 2014. Sources confirmed that there was no LNG terminal in the country and proposals had been presented to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in this regard which included conversion of existing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to an LNG terminal for 200 MMCFD and establishment of a long-term facility through a competitive process for 500- 1000 MMCFD.
