‘Honour’ crime: Two women killed by brothers

A married woman was killed here on Friday by her brother, who the police said, suspected that she was having an extra marital affair.


Liaquatpur police said Muhammad Majid, a Ghausia Colony resident, had had several arguments with his sister Farkhanda Bibi, who had been consistently denying the allegation.

Police said Farkhanda Bibi had returned to her father’s house after an argument with her husband.


On Friday, she had an argument with Majid, who later strangled her and fled. Police said the body was sent to the district headquarters hospital for an autopsy. An FIR has been registered.

In a separate incident on Friday, Muhammad Arshad, a resident of the Bhong area, shot his 18-year-old sister, Phopat Mai.

Police said he had suspected that she was in a relationship with a man from the neighbourhood.

Police said Arshad, his father Mithan, and an uncle were missing since the killing.
