Muhammad Ishtiaq and Sohail Shehzad booked their place in the 22nd Sindh Snooker Cup pre-quarterfinals on Friday after registering big wins in the last-32 round.
Ishtiaq defeated Haris Nadeem 4-1 while Shehzad outclassed Farrukh Usman 4-0 in his match.
Meanwhile, top seed Umair Alam Khan and his opponent Fahim Siddiqui failed to show up for their match, whereas fourth seed Uzair Aziz recorded a 4-0 victory win against Minhas Malik.
Rizwan Hashmi also won against Faisal Kashmiri 4-2, and Khurram Masih overcame Nadir Shah 4-3 to progress in the pre-quarterfinals.
Aneel John also emerged as a strong player with his 4-1 win against Akber Shah, while seventh seed Javed Ansari outplayed Zulfiqar Qadir 4-2 and Abdul Majid defeated Muhammad Akmal 4-2 to qualify for the next round.
The tournament also saw three walkovers yesterday, including a match where fifth seed Vishan Gir failed to turn up for the match and Tahir Majeed received a bye in the next round.
The tournament began with the total of 192 players from the province. The players will now play the pre-quarterfinals in the best-of-nine frame format.
Earlier, the league was conducted on the best-of-seven format. The final of the event will take place on January 6.
