Five people, including one of Dargah Jehanpur Sharif’s disciple, were killed when their jeep fell into the Qazi Wah canal near Mirpur Mathelo in district Ghotki on Tuesday midnight.
One of Dargah Jehanpur Sharif’s disciples along with his devotees and driver were on their way to Jehanpur Sharif from Mirpur Mathelo in a jeep when the vehicle skidded and fell into Qazi Wah, which runs along the National Highway. All five occupants of the jeep were killed.
A milkman saw the vehicle on Wednesday morning and informed the villagers, who rushed to the scene to fish out the bodies. Bodies of Asif Khambhra and Hajan Samat were sent to Sadiqabad, while the remaining bodies were shifted to Jehanpur Sharif. Businesses in Jehanpur Sharif remained closed on Wednesday as a token of mourning, while thousands of devotees converged to the town to attend the last rites of the deceased.
