Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna start Kremlin Cup campaign with a bang.
Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna started their campaign with a bang at the Kremlin Cup as they defeated Czeck Leos Freidl and Victor Hanescu from Romania. The sub-continental duo claimed a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 win to advance to the quarter-finals in Moscow.
Aisam and Bopanna fired six aces, had no double faults unlike their opponents’ three, as they overpowered Freidl and Hanescu in 75 minutes. They will now face Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki who defeated Dusan Vemic and Lovro Zovko 7-6(7-5), 7-5.
The Indo-Pak Express, ranked sixth in the men’s doubles rankings, recently faced a quarter-final exit at the Shanghai Masters. Meanwhile, Aisam broke into to the top 20 of the ATP men’s doubles rankings as he achieved a career-best 19th place after a brilliant run at the US Open.
