KARACHI: Over 300 participants from 25 different cities have joined the 12th Young Leaders' Conference (YLC) currently being held in Karachi.

The third day of YLC on Saturday was dedicated to re-thinking, re-exploring and revising. A development specialist, Dr Quratulain Bakhtiyari, formally opened the day by introducing concepts regarding awareness, environment and health.

Later in the day, through a life skill's activity, the participants focused on 10 case studies formulated around these themes. Participants discussed various problematic situations and identified the root causes of the problems. The activity enabled the participants to take an active part in discussions and chalk out workable solutions.

A discussion, titled 'Did you know?', designed to create awareness about the active role that the youth can - and need to - play in developing countries, was conducted by panelists. Among the panelists was founder of Aware Girls organisation, Gulalai Ismail, Shahzad Khan from Y-Peer network and Raziq Fahim, a peace-builder from Quetta.

These young social reformers focused on inspiring and urging participants to work for social welfare in local communities. School of Leadership, the official organisers of YLC in collaboration with Patient Welfare Association, also set up a blood donation camp which received a large contribution from the participants.
