A large number of candidates submitted their forms for the local government election in the offices of returning officers on the final day of submissions.



"We are trying to facilitate the large number of candidates that are flocking to the district office," district Central deputy commissioner Dr Saifur Rehman informed The Express Tribune. "We started receiving forms from 12pm and the process will end at midnight, after which we will count the total number of forms submitted."

Commissioner office's spokesperson Hassan Khanzada said that submission counters have been established in all deputy commissioner offices in anticipation of the large number of candidates expected to submit forms on the final day.

The process of submitting nomination papers began on Thursday and continued till Sunday. The final list of the candidates along with their respective election symbols will be published on January 13, with polls being held on January 18, 2014.
