Islamabad and Rawalpindi police on Sunday conducted joint search operations in various areas of the twin cities including Afghan habitats, slum areas and arrested a total of 217 suspects, a police spokesman said.



Police officials of both cities have chalked out a joint security following the directions from Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan to ensure protection of the life and property of the citizens.

As per the plan, teams of Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi and Pir Wadhai police stations headed by SP Industrial Area Hassan Iqbal conducted an operation in Pirwadhai as well as its adjacent areas and arrested a total of 114 suspects who were being investigated further.

Meanwhile, Tarnol police teams headed by SP Saddar Jameel Ahmed Hashmi carried out an  operation in Dhoke Abbasi, Sara-i-Khurbuza, Ittefaq Colony and slum areas and arrested 103 suspects recovering two pistols, three guns, two bikes and narcotics from their possession. Police took finger prints of the nabbed suspects while their CNICs were being verified and mobile data confirmed.
