President’s Trophy: Babar flattens PIA with seven-wicket haul

Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar took a seven-wicket haul to put Wapda ahead against the PIA on opening day of President’s Trophy Eighth Round match in Faisalabad.
Babar, who was dropped from Pakistan’s Test squad for Sri Lanka series, showed his prowess with figures of seven for 81 as PIA crashed to 160 all out after being put into bat.
Wapda are now eyeing to build a good lead as they scored 151 for three till stumps with Mohammad Ayub and Aamir Sajjad batting on 57 and 32 runs respectively.
PTV fight back against UBL
Meanwhile, PTV, after being bowled out for just 150 made an impressive fight back by removing top four UBL batsmen for only 91 runs in Islamabad.
Mohammad Irshad was the pick of the UBL bowlers, claiming four wickets for 47 runs.
For PTV, in-form Rizwan Akbar and Mohammad Ali snapped a brace each.
The other match between KRL and ZTBL also saw bowlers’ domination with 13 wickets falling in the day.
Batting first, KRL were dismissed for 171 after Sajjad Hussain took figures of four for 51 .
However, ZTBL faced trouble in batting as they lost three early wickets with just 43 on the board.
HBL solid against leaders
Meanwhile, Habib Bank made a good start against SNGPL, finishing the day on 304-4 after half-centuries from Imran Farhat (85) and Aftab Alam (82).
In another match, Port Qasim were all out for 239 against the National Bank who were on 15 for one at the end of day one.
