LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday disposed of a notice of an assault on a 17-year-old girl as a police report of the case was submitted in the court of competent jurisdiction.

Newspaper reports had said that the daughter of a resident of Syedwala Town was returning from a nearby shrine with her eleven-year-old cousin when three men overpowered him and took her to a deserted place.

She later told the media that she was tortured and her cousin was forced to rape her.

Her father alleged that police had registered the case five days later and dropped the name of one of the suspects from it. He said Assistant Sub-inspector Saifullah had humiliated him and his family in front of the rapists.

He further alleged that the police had delayed the medical examination to weaken the case.

Following publication of the news the Lahore High Court Complaint Cell had took cognisance of the issue and directed the Nankana Sahib district and sessions judge to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding the steps taken by the police with his comments within a week. 0The D&SJ reported that Syedwala police had registered a case against the accused.  He said two of the suspects had been arrested and sent to judicial lockup. Statement of the victim had also been recorded. However, on the direction of LHC, police report u/s 173 Cr PC was submitted in the trial court. The LHC Complaints Cell has now disposed of the notice into the matter.
