ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restored Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed and disposed of the case. Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan restored Rashid Ahmed as chairman of the media watchdog after hearing arguments from all the parties.  The court also nullified the appointment of Rao Tehsin Khan as acting chairman of the authority. The federal government had dismissed Rashid Ahmed on December 15, but IHC had granted stay against this removal. Rashid Ahmed was appointed as Pemra chairman on January 26, 2013 by the PPP government. The incumbent federal government on December 15 terminated his contract and appointed Tehsin Ali Khan, an executive member of Pemra, as acting chairman.
