Priyanka Chopra would be best to play Mehrunisa: Anubhav Sinha
Author says the Bollywood diva completely fits the bill of her book’s character.
MUMBAI:
Author Manreet Sodhi Someshwar, whose second book in the Mehrunisa trilogy The Hunt for Kohinoor has hit the stalls recently, and film-maker Anubhav Sinha, feel that if the literary work is adapted for the big screen, actress Priyanka Chopra would be perfect to play the sleuth Mehrunisa Khosa.
“No one fits the bill better than Priyanka Chopra with her strong feminine presence. With a combination of vulnerability and headstrong nature, Priyanka would portray Mehrunisa perfectly,” Sinha said in a statement. He launched the book recently, and is currently busy with the production of his women-centric drama Gulaab Gang, which stars Madhuri Dixit in the lead role.
The book follows a 96-hour journey of Mehrunisa, an Indian female Sherlock Holmes. It is a hunt through the world’s most dangerous terrain in order to retrieve the precious diamond, the Kohinoor.
Someshwar would love to turn her books into the film. “Looking at the current set of Bollywood actors, Priyanka comes closest to my perception of Mehrunisa, and I would love to make this series of books into a movie one day,” said the author, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Her first book in the Mehrunisa series was a thriller, titled The Taj Conspiracy.
