‘Public nuisance’: Man granted bail
The judge granted bail to truck driver Muhammad Shabbir for Rs30,000.

A judicial magistrate on Tuesday granted bail to a man accused of public nuisance for parking his truck on the road when Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was set to pass through the route. The judge granted bail to truck driver Muhammad Shabbir for Rs30,000. Shabbir told the court that his truck had broken down. He said he had called a mechanic to fix it. He said while he was waiting, some police officials asked him to remove the truck immediately. He said he told them he could not move it as it had broken down. He said he was told that the chief minister was scheduled to pass through and when he reiterated his reply, he was arrested and taken to a police station. The police have registered a case against him under Section 290 (public nuisance and 291 (continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
