Colours of Pakistan: DA students celebrate culture at carnival
Students present themselves in folk attire to represent diverse cultures of Pakistan.
KARACHI:
Embodying different cultures of Pakistan, ‘Colours of Pakistan’ carnival was celebrated at the Defence Authority Public School (O’ & A’ levels) Seaview.
At the grand funfair gala, the students represented different cultures with colourful folk dresses.
Former secretary information Mehtab Akbar Rashdi was the chief guest of the function. Rashdi said cultural programmes help promote a soft image of Pakistan. These events encompass the rich cultural heritage of the nation, she said. “The youth constitute the hope and pride of the nation and they should be given quality training to make them enlightened, cultured and dynamic individuals of society,” Rashdi said.
The presentations on cultural heritage included all the four provinces, the people, the way of living, dressing and the existing relations between them. Students also presented the cultural heritage of the Kalash Valley as well as the Sindhi and Balochi culture. In one of the presentations, the Khyber Pass was shown as the gateway of Pakistan. The gala included a dance performance, talent show, fancy dress show and various other competitions among students. The Mini Pakistan presentation was declared the first, Kalash Valley heritage got the second position, while presentations on Sindhi and Baluchi culture jointly got the third prize position.
