Security: Large police deployment for PTI rally
The police had warned of strict action against those found breaking the law.
LAHORE:
A contingent of 700 policemen was deployed along the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) rally on Sunday.
The police had warned of strict action against those found breaking the law.
However, the rally participants remained peaceful and no untoward situation arose.
Civil Lines Division Operations SP Sarfraz Khan Virk said more than 700 policemen were deployed. He said the roads leading to the Lower Mall, Nasser Bagh and The Mall. He said policemen were deployed to stop vehicles from entering The Mall and the Lower Mall.
He said policemen were also deployed around the truck that carried PTI leaders.
Traffic was allowed on The Mall eastwards from Alhamra.
