It has been 10 days since the last meeting and the education department has not yet moved a formal summary to the Sindh chief minister. The changes suggested making up for the 72 working days lost due to the floods. They include making Saturday a working day, extending classroom timings and waiving tuition fees for flood survivors.
Seelro disclosed that the provincial minster for education and literacy approved the minutes of the meeting on Tuesday, October 19. “We will make and move the summary to the chief minister soon,” he said.
Referring to the delay, Seelro explained that the section officer has to move the minutes for approval to the deputy secretary, who then passes them on to the secretary and finally they are sent to the minister. “That’s why it often takes more time,” he said.
During the meeting on October 8, the committee had directed the representatives of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Larkana boards to waive the exam fee for students from the flood-affected areas but these decisions have yet to be implemented, he added.
