We can’t think of a better way for you to accessorise your outfits this wedding season.

We’re fans of the handbag designer Sidra Nasir’s latest collection Minaudière, literally meaning a small, box-shaped women’s fashion accessory, generally considered a jewellery piece.

We can’t think of a better way for you to accessorise your outfits this wedding season.

Nasir likes to create designs that are not available in the market here in Pakistan. Of her latest collection, she says, “I felt with wedding season coming up, brides-to-be as well as women attending weddings must be on the lookout for accessorising their outfits. I did my research on where to find the frames for these bags and had them shipped from Hong Kong. It was a challenging experience as the material had to be imported and skilled labour for these bags, in particular, is extremely difficult to get a hold of here. The best part is using what is available — use hand embellishment and combine it with imported materials to make a quality and unique product.”

The collection was specifically made for  the wedding season, so Nasir created motifs and designs that would work with heavily embellished clothes. The idea was to make the bags look like pieces of jewellery themselves. “I wanted lots of bling and heavy embellishments!” she says.

The most creative piece from the collection has to be the acrylic frame box with embellished pouches inside, which one can use to keep a lipstick or phone in, and at the same time can match them to any outfit. All you have to do is switch out the pouch inside to match your look, or pull the pouch out and carry it as is.

Nasir has one key piece of advice to offer to brides-to-be: Accessories can make or break a look. The key thing to remember is if your outfit is extravagant, you may not need the extra bling with over-the-top jewellery and bags. Keep it simple and glamorous and keep the attention on your outfit.

Priced between Rs8,000 to Rs15,000, each piece is one-of-a-kind. Nasir releases a new collection of bags every three months, so watch out!
