FAISALABAD:

The district administration will launch a crackdown against quacks and confiscate the medicines in their use, district government spokesman Muhammad Rafiq said on Saturday.

He said the DCO had ordered the officials to work with the police and arrest quack.

He said the district government health officials had identified over 50 illegal clinics run by quacks.

He said besides being unqualified to practice, these quacks used handmade spurious and unhygienic medicines that were sold under the name of “herbal medicines”.

He said these so-called medicines were worsening people’s health and causing deaths in some cases. He said most of these quacks were seen to operate after 7pm till midnight.

He said discarded syrups, majoon, steroid tablets, injections and aphrodisiacs were being used to make these medicines.

He said the officials had taken notice of the several complaints against quack. A comprehensive plan to initiate a crackdown was then chalked out.

He said raiding teams comprising health officers and drug inspectors had been formed.

They have been assigned their areas, he said.

He said lady police constables will also be included in the raids to raid houses where residents did not let male officials enter the house.
