A policeman was killed in a fight with drug peddlers in Chanesor Goth in Mehmoodabad on Friday.
The 45-year-old head constable, Javed Iqbal Masih, was injured in an exchange of fire when the police raided the drug peddlers’ den. SHO Mohammad Sarwar said Masih was taken to Jinnah hospital where he died.
The deceased lived in Ferozabad and was posted to the Mehmoodabad police station for more than two years.
An elderly man, 65-year-old Fazal Kareem, was shot dead near Super Highway. The police said the deceased was shot over alleged personal enmity.

Meanwhile, a businessman, 55-year-old Waqar Haider, was shot and injured in a firing incident in North Nazimabad. The initial investigation suggests that he was injured over offering resistance on a robbing bid.
