First NADRA, then PEMRA and now AGPR
Islamabad High Court reinstates Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue Tahir Mahmood.
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reinstated Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) Tahir Mahmood who was suspended on December 18 by the government for three months, Express News reported.
Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi issued a stay order against the removal and suspended the termination notification issued by the establishment division. The court also issued a notice to secretary establishment and adjourned the matter till the next date.
Mahmood while challenging the termination notification through his counsel, Mir Aurangzeb, argued that the government had suspended his client for three months on December 18 without any reason. He maintained that even show-cause notice was not issued to his client before terminating his employment, therefore he requested the notification be set aside.
It is noted that Mahmood was the third official who was restored by IHC in the last month. Earlier, chairmen of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), were also restored by the same court.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance said that Tahir Mahmood was allegedly involved in corruption. He was allegedly the right hand man of Auditor General of Pakistan Akhtar Buland Rana.
