Incomplete documents: Election Tribunal dismisses two petitions

The tribunal dismissed the petitions on the basis of incomplete documents of the JI candidates.

KARACHI:
The Karachi Election Tribunal dismissed two petitions challenging victories of two lawmakers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday on the basis of incomplete documents of the challengers.

Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani, who is heading the tribunal, dismissed the appeals filed by the defeated candidates of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Altaf Hussain Patni and Zabir Ahmed. Patni had filed a petition against MQM candidate, Ashfaq Mangi, challenging his victory in PS-127 while Ahmed had challenged MQM’s legislator, Dr Saghir Ahmed, who had won from PS-117.


The tribunal dismissed thE petitions on the basis of incomplete documents of the JI candidates. In the meantime, the tribunal reserved verdict on seven other petitions after the parties concluded their arguments. The court will announce verdict on December 24.
