Guns, ammo seized by motorway police

Motorway police says that during routine patrolling, team intercepted car near Burhan interchange.

The National Highway and Motorway Police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition besides arresting two accused. The motorway police said that during routine patrolling, a team intercepted a car near Burhan interchange and recovered the contraband items from it.

A police spokesman said that the car (LEB-3341) was coming from Peshawar. He said four submachine guns with eight magazines, 12 light machineguns with 24 magazines, 18 pistols, nine repeaters and over 6,000 bullets and cartridges were recovered from the accused. The accused have been identified as Muhammad Asim and Ameenur Rehman. The motorway police handed the accused over to the Hassanabdal police for booking and further interrogation.
