68 recipients of
the gold medals were present at
the ceremony.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday gave away Tehrik-i-Pakistan gold medals to 147 veteran workers of Pakistan movement at a ceremony held at Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.
The veteran political and social workers came from all four provinces of Pakistan, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, former East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and various states of India where Muslims were in minority at the time Pakistan came into existence in 1947. Late Rana Abdul Rahim, father of Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, was among the recipients.
Fauzia Rana, daughter of the late Rana Abdul Rahim, received the gold medal on his behalf.
Publisher Majeed Nizami, Justice (r) Dr Javeed Iqbal, son of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, former Lahore High Court chief justice Mian Mahboob Ahmed, Master Qamarud Din Haider, Haji Sardar Khan, Malik Muhammad Amir Khan, Mohtarma Niamat Bibi and Mohtarma Ghafoorun Nisa personally received their gold medals in recognition of services for the independence movement.
Columnist Ataur Rehman received the gold medal on behalf of his father the late Mian Ghulam Hussain.
Columnist Asar Chauhan received a gold medal on behalf of his father the late Rana Fazal Muhammad Chauhan and Jamil Athar, the former APNS resident, received a gold medal on behalf of his uncle the late Qazi Zahoorud Din Sarhindi.
Gold medals for late Dr Israr Ahmed and late Allama Ahmed Saeed Kazimi were received by their sons.
The chief minister gave away 68 gold medals. The gold medallists from India and Bangladesh were unable to attend the ceremony.
Pakistan Movement Workers Trust has given away 1,206 gold medals to veteran workers of the Pakistan Movement of which more than 100 medalists belonged to the former East Pakistan (Bangladesh).

Many more deserves this medal ( and citizenship)stranded in Bangladesh because Pakistan is unwilling to accept them. ( these are the people who refused Bangladeshi citizenship and wanted to come to Pakistan . They fought for Pakistan and in return their entry in Pakistan. This will be a part of the history and the next generation will be ashamed of to learn it.
