This or that?: Twilight vs The Mortal Instruments

In this battle of the tween-franchise ingénues, Stewart clearly loses.

Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas 2013-2014 collection was presented in Dallas on Tuesday, December 10.

A number of stars were present at the event, including the newly crowned face of the French brand, Twilight star Kristen Stewart.

We wonder whether Karl Lagerfield regrets that decision after seeing her on the red carpet. We know we already do. In this battle of the tween-franchise ingénues, Stewart clearly loses.

Only Stewart can make Chanel look grungy.

Lily Collins

Outfit:

Actor Lily Collins stepped out in a sequined Chanel Fall 2013 number, definitely more suited for this high-profile event. With a V-neck and lovely capped sleeves, the dress flatters every inch of the actor, and she looks both classy and sexy. Her Mortal Instruments franchise may have been DOA, but she beats Stewart every inch of the way on the red carpet.

Hair and Make-up

With her blunt, wavy locks swept to one side behind her ear along with a deep wine lipstick, Collins’ make-up accentuates the winter tones in her shimmery dress. Her blush is a tad 80’s though, clearly applied very liberally by an over-enthusiastic make-up artist. Still, we think the overall look works.

Shoes and Accessories:

We can’t remember the last time anyone looked elegant in a pair of thigh-high boots, before this that is. It could have something to do with the fact that they’re Chanel as well, and suede not leather. Collins pulls them off beautifully, giving her outfit a modern, edgy twist on the red carpet. Lily’s swept back hair also showed off the dazzling diamond earrings the actor had chosen to complement her outfit.

Kristen Stewart

Outfit:

Stewart stepped out in Chanel (obviously), pairing high-waisted, wide-leg, pumpkin leather trousers with a grey crop top. Both items are from Chanel’s Spring 2014 collection, but the actor just can’t seem to pull them off. The pants are definitely designed for longer legs, making Stewart look short and stumpy, and that crop top is more suited for a music festival rather than a high fashion event. We must admit, however, that crop top really shows off Stewarts toned abs.

Hair and Make-up:

Stewart’s signature messy waves looked as flattering as always, and paired with super smokey eyes, gave her a very sultry look. Stewart knows very well that in make-up either the eyes are heavy, or the lips, and wears a light, peachy lip colour to balance out her smokey eyes.

Shoes and Accessories:

The actor dons a pair of tan, pointed-toe pumps which barely peep through her orange pants. She’s also accessorised with a charcoal sweater tied around her hips, much like the manner in which the outfit was styled on the Chanel runway. Her signature accessory is, as always, firmly in place: Her surly expression.
