LAHORE:
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) leader Nasir Abbas Multani was killed in a firing incident in Lahore late on Sunday, Express News reported.

According to details, unidentified armed men riding motorcycles opened fire on his car near FC College in Lahore.

Multani was taken to Sheikh Zayad Hospital, where he was declared dead.

He was the vice president of Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council Punjab chapter. The council has announced three days of mourning and demanded that government immediately arrest those responsible for the killing.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) condemned the killing of Multani.

Leader of the opposition in Punjab assembly and Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf leader Mehmoodur Rasheed has also called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the incident.

A number of attacks, that seem sectarian in nature, have escalated in the past month.

On December 6, Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muawiya, the chief of ASWJ’s Punjab chapter, was killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car along Ravi Road.

Earlier in December, MWM’s deputy secretary-general, Allama Deedar Ali Jalbani along with his driver was shot dead in a targeted attack in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.
