Tax collection: 26 teams to monitor illegal vehicles

The Excise Department on Saturday formed 26 teams at regional level to initiate action against more than 10,000 vehicles without registration or lifetime token. Excise and Taxation Department Director Ahmad Saeed said that the teams had been formed to act against 1,000CC vehicles that did not have lifetime token and registration. He said impounded vehicles would be sold in an auction. He said surveillance of vehicles in Rahwali Cantt, Aroop, Lohianwala, Alam Chowk, Alipur Chattha, Kamoke toll plaza, Kangniwala and Pindi Bypass in Gujranwala will begin from Monday (today). The government has extended the deadline for getting lifetime token. Those applying for token after December 31 will be fined 200 per cent.
