FAISALABAD:
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu on Sunday took notice of mismanagement at the Ghulam Muhammadabad vegetable and fruit market.
During a visit to the market where he was accompanied by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal, the minister witnessed the auction. He stressed the need for better management at the market.
“Strict action will be taken against corrupt and negligent staff,” he said.
Sindhu checked the prices of tomatoes, potatoes, green chillies, carrots, apples, oranges, guavas and bananas.
“Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken steps to control the prices of essential items... the entire government machinery is working to implement price control mechanism in the province,” he said.
Sindhu praised the district administration for setting up Sahulat Bazaars.
DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said the market committee staff must ensure cleanliness in the vegetable market. He said separate blocks would be established for different vegetables and fruits.
He said measures would also be taken for further development of the vegetable and fruit market in Saddar.
DCO stresses need for vocational training
Also on Sunday, Mengal visited the Pasban Technical Training Centre at Satiana Road.
“Unemployment can be overcome by imparting vocational training and producing trained manpower in the country,” he said addressing the trainees and centre staff.
The DCO said that voluntary welfare institutions were rendering valuable service by providing vocational training.
He later took a round of the centre and inspected various technical training sections. He assured the centre of full support by the district administration for expanding the training programmes. He said the centre was sharing the government’s burden by imparting skills to unemployed youth.
Maj (retired) Shah Nawazul Hassan, the Pasban Group chairman, briefed the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal about the training services provided at the centre.
He said that tool kits were provided to the trainees after they completed training to help them start their businesses. He said they were also given a monthly stipend during training.
