Fashion Police: Shilpa Shetty, a monochrome mess
Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty isn’t too popular for her fashion choices as it is.
Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty isn’t too popular for her fashion choices as it is. However, we wonder what on earth she was thinking when she stepped on the sets of dance reality show Nach Baliye in this hideously abstract sari. Although pink and black generally make for a pleasing combination, this one here is a complete eyesore and unfortunately that is not just all which is wrong with the outfit — the list is endless. Here is why we are not too fond of it:
The Charge sheet
Hair and make-up
While her chic side-bun gets a nod from us, we aren’t really pleased with her excessively bright and matching make-up. It isn’t a rule of thumb to match your make-up to colours of your outfit but unfortunately, Shilpa failed to make note of that. That smoky cat-eye is too intense considering her dark sari and we are sorry to say this but that pink lip shade is better suited for a drag queen.
Outfit
Shilpa is sporting a sari by Indian designer duo Shivan and Narresh and from the colour combination and the multi-coloured abstract floral border to the halter neck monochrome blouse, everything just feels out of place. We can’t figure out whether that mass of black and white plastic circles around her neck is a choker or part of the blouse’s neckline. Whatever the case, it is surely giving us the creeps!
Accessories and shoes
A sari is an elegant piece of clothing and hence, requires equally sophisticated accessories to uplift the entire look. While her diamond studs are appropriate, the plastic studded black bracelet and a toy ring is making no sense on her at all. Thankfully, her shoes aren’t visible for any scrutiny!
Bail out!
Kajol Devgn
The Bengali beauty looks gorgeous in a Manish Malhotra sari. The colour combination works well for her skin tone and the peak-a-boo lace blouse complements the sari. Her make-up is spot on giving her a refreshing glow. Take a cue Shilpa!
Kareena Kapoor
No matter what colour or style she opts for, the gorgeous B-town diva is always a stunner in saris. She looks edgy, modish and simply ravishing in a patchwork sari by Indian designer Sougat Paul at the launch of Filmfare magazine. She lets the sari speak for itself by keeping the accessories to a bare minimum.
Sonam Kapoor
Nobody knows fashion better than actor Sonam Kapoor. The chirpy starlet impresses in a sultry red and black Kallol Datta sari at the premier of Mai. That silver antique statement choker on a plain black halter neck blouse looks voguish.
