The Constitution of Pakistan is supreme and it is mandatory for everyone including judges, generals and chief executives to follow it in letter and spirit, said Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan on Saturday.
Khan was speaking to participants at the concluding ceremony of a training session for judges and court staff at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy. He said the district judiciary is the backbone of the country’s judicial system and asked district judges to deliver justice without fear or discrimination.
“The protection of human rights is the prime obligation of a state under our Constitution. Even the parliament has no authority to bypass human rights and damage the structure of the state,” said the chief justice.
He added the judicial academy would soon be affiliated with the Higher Education Commission, adding academy has trained more than 800 judges, lawyers and prosecutors in the last year and a half.
