A gang of robbers dressed in camouflage police uniforms set up a picket on the National Highway on Thursday night and robbed around 10 trucks and buses.
The picket was set up in the jurisdiction of Channi Goth police station.
The robbers also tried to stop a bus at the picket but a guard on the bus shot at them. The robbers shot back smashing the bus windows.
However, none of the passengers were hurt.
When the Motorway Police arrived at the picket the robbers hid in a sugarcane field and shot at them.
The shootout went on for half an hour. In the end the robbers managed to escape.

They later set up a picket in Taranda Muhammad Panah area and robbed several buses and trucks.
The robbers forced the driver of one of the buses to drive it to a field on the Link Road and relieved the passengers of their valuables.
The Motorway and Taranda Muhammad Panah police chased the robbers and arrested one of them.
Police said the robbers were dressed as police commandos.
Three cases have been registered at the Taranda Muhammad Panah and Channi Goth and Rukanpur police stations.
