Not so fast: SHC extends stay against removal of university VC

The Sindh High Court extended the stay granted earlier against removal of the vice-chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences.
Prof Masood Hamid submitted that he was appointed as VC on December 19, 2011 by the chancellor for four years or till the chancellor desires. On September 16, the government promulgated the Sindh Universities Law (Amendment) Act 2013 which provides that a person with a medical background shall be appointed as VC. “Provision has also been added that if a VC has remained on the post for more than two terms, he shall cease to hold office,” the lawyer said.
