Road mishap: Four students, two teachers injured in accident

Four students and two teachers were injured in a road mishap in Lond Khwar, Mardan on Friday morning.


Police official Safdar Iqbal said the incident occurred at around 8am when a school van en route to Hathyan rammed into a speeding jeep coming from the opposite direction while negotiating a sharp u-turn in Lond Khwar bazaar. A school’s headmistress, whose name could not be ascertained, was severely injured along with another teacher and four students.

The injured were rushed to Mardan Medical Complex where the students and teacher were discharged following first aid while the headmistress was referred to Lady Reading Hospital due her critical condition. She was later shifted to a hospital in Islamabad.

The official added the unidentified accused driver of the jeep escaped after the accident. “We will arrest the driver,” the official stressed, adding he was a local of the area.

A case has been filed and further investigation is underway.
