“The concept of using big data to analyse potention business ideas has become increasingly important to businesses,” Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Pakistan head Arif Mirza said on Thursday.

In a statement, he said, “Big data represents one of the biggest opportunities the finance profession has seen in recent times. Using their analytical skills, workers will be able to provide senior management real time updates on a wider set of variables which will place them at the heart of business strategy.”

He said the question of how ‘big data’ could impact business was an important question accountants and finance professionals should ask themselves.

He said in a recent survey conducted by ACCA and Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), 77 per cent respondents in South Asia and 62 per cent globally cited big data as “hugely important to the future of business".
