Controversy: CJ tarnished his repute: legal expert
Famous legal expert Fawad Chaudhry said the outgoing chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry harmed his reputation.
LAHORE:
Famous legal expert Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said the outgoing chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry harmed his reputation at his departure by his giving favour to an “undeserving friend”.
He said a media group was already predicting that he was going to become a political star.
“And the outgoing CJ kept the tradition of conferring favours upon that group,” he said in an interview. He alleged that during his seven-year tenure Justice (retd) Iftikhar Chaudhry followed a political agenda and gave political verdicts. “Instead of a judge, he presented himself as a politician and all his acts were political,” he said, adding that his acts had tarnished the dignity of the judiciary.
He alleged that the outgoing CJ’s personal affairs were also not transparent and there was a big question mark as to his character in connection with the controversy associated with his son.
