The Lahore High Court on Friday suspended the order of demotion of seven sub-inspectors and directed the inspector general of police to decide their applications after allowing them a hearing.
Asfhaq and six others had moved the petitions challenging their demotion from sub-inspectors to assistant sub-inspectors. The petitioners submitted that under Article 25 of the Constitution, no public employee could be demoted without a hearing.
They requested the court to suspend the orders of their demotion. After hearing initial arguments, Justice Shahzada Mazhar suspended the orders.
