An additional district and sessions judge has framed charges against a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) member for alleged drug possession and summoned the prosecution witnesses for January 4. The accused, Sakhi Shah, has already been convicted of various terrorism-related offences and been sentenced to life in prison by an anti-terrorism court. The drugs charges date back to his arrest at a picket while trying to enter Lahore via the Saggian bridge on February 8, 2010. According to the FIR registered by Shahdra police, the picket had been set up after they received a tip that TTP members led by explosives expert Qari Abdul Baseer were on their way to Lahore to execute a suicide attack on a hotel. Baseer and Shah were among six arrested at the picket after jackets fitted with explosives and hand grenades were found in their car. Shah was also alleged to have been carrying four kilograms of hashish.
