Missing persons case: SC tells acting IG FC to appear before court
Chief justice says no one should be under the illusion that the case will end as soon as he retires.
ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court has summoned acting inspector general Frontier Corps on December 10 in relation to the missing persons case, Express News reported on Monday.
A three-member bench heard the case today and asked acting IG FC to appear as the IG FC could not come to the court due to his health conditions.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that there are 60 hours left before he retires, which are equal to 60 years in terms of making sure the case proceeds in the right direction.
“No one should be under the illusion that the case will end as soon as I retire,” he added.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also appeared before the court to present the government’s view to the bench.
In the last hearing, the government had produced seven out of 35 missing prisoners of Malakand Jail before the apex court.
Asif had also submitted a breakdown of the 35 persons and their locations.
