Toxic liquor claims three lives in Nowshera
The official said no family member filed an FIR and are reluctant to involve the police.
NOWSHERA:
Three people died and two are in critical condition after drinking toxic alcohol in Nowshera Cantonment on Sunday.
Cantonment police ASI Naik Zaman said he was informed that five people were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera after drinking toxic liquor. By the time he reached the hospital, one of the victims had died while four were taken to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Two others succumbed at LRH while the remaining two are being treated in the intensive care unit. The deceased were identified as Jamil Mehboob, Miskeen, and Jamil while the other victims Khadim and Pervez are still not stable.
The official said no family member filed an FIR and are reluctant to involve the police.
Social activist Lasar Jan condemned the incident and said he would personally visit families of the victims and convince them to file a case so investigation can be started against those who sell toxic alcohol. “If they are not caught, more people will die,” he said, requesting the district government to initiate an inquiry.
