Expanding: Edexcel introduces ‘new suite of qualifications’

Institutions offering UK qualifications briefed about suite of qualifications introduced by Edexcel .

The British Council would extend all possible support to promote the mandate of education in Pakistan.

Director Examinations British Council Murray Keeler said this while conducting a session about new suite of qualifications introduced by Edexcel International for academic institutions and students progressing qualifications under its umbrella.

Edexcel, a Pearson company, is UK’s largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally

He appreciated the Edexcel for launching international advanced level qualifications and organizing the session to equip the academics about its features. He also appreciated the performance of private academic institutions for promoting UK qualifications in Pakistan.


The session was attended by the representatives of the British Council and private schools including Froebel’s, Pak Turk School, International Grammar School, Beacon House, City School, Roots, GSIS and Islamabad School.

The Edexcel International Advanced Level qualification regulated by Pearson, are an international alternative to current Edexcel GCE A levels.

The examinations will be conducted each year in January and June, PQI-UK Education Consultant David Davies said. This new qualification was launched in September and would be assessed in January next year.

He said that more than 100 universities around the world have already recognize this qualification including universities in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand etc.
