Illegal arrest: ‘Police took our son’
The protesters said it was possible that the police had kept him at an illegal detention centre.
FAISALABAD:
Scores of Fatehabad residents staged a demonstration against the police for the second consecutive day seeking recovery of a widow’s son allegedly kidnapped by some policemen. The demonstrators gathered at Satiana Road and burned tyres. They said Shehbaz Akram was taken away from his home on Wednesday. They said the men who took him said they were police officials and were arresting Akram on suspicion of theft. They said when some of his relatives went to the police station, they were told that Akram was not in police custody and that there were no orders for his arrest. The protesters said it was possible that the police had kept him at an illegal detention centre. Iqbal Town SP Zulfiqar Ahmad visited the scene and assured the protesters that Akram would soon be recovered.
