Shuttle service: Expats can avail free bus service introduced by OPF

The service will comprise two 23-seat coasters and a 17-seat van.

MIRPUR:

A number of expats from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and the Potohar region often comes back to visit their families once in a while.

For such people, the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has launched a free inter-city shuttle bus service from Benazir Bhutto International Airport to major bus stations in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

In this regard, OPF Regional Director AB Rubina, flanked by Zaheer Ahmed Warriach and other senior officials, said the facility will be available at the Islamabad airport from midnight to 6am every day and will take passengers to Faizabad, Rawalpindi Railway Station, Saddar
and the Daewoo station, from where the expats can go on to their hometowns and cities.



She said the pilot project was a part of the exceptional steps being taken by the OPF to extend all possible facilities to overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris during their visit home.

Later, the facility will also be made available at all other international airports in the country including Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Peshawar.

The regional director underlined that the shuttle service will comprise of two 23-seat coasters and a 17-seat van, ensuring safe and comfortable movement.

Interestingly, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also been asked to prohibit the entry of non-registered public service vehicles including taxi cabs inside the airport.
