Protest camp: Power consumers demonstrate against load-shedding

The Markazi Tajir Ittehad (MTI) held a protest at Topan Walla Chowk against prolonged load-shedding and additional fees for power consumers in DI Khan city.
The protest camp demonstrated against the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), in which central leaders of MTI including Dr Abdullah Zafari, Hamid Ali Rahmani, Khalid Naz, Ishfaq Chughtai and Ahmad Ali among others participated. In a show of support, District Bar President Qaiser Khan Mian Khel, local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mustafa Khan Kundi, and former DI Khan nazim Muhammad Hanif Pipa were also present.
The speakers said Wapda is ‘behaving like a step-mother’ and power outages lasting between 12 to 18 hours have negatively affected businesses and lives.
“People are suffering from load-shedding, inflation and worsening law and order. In addition, Wapda is also imposing inappropriate fines on consumers,” said Zafari. He accused officials of the power authority of pardoning consumers with political influence.
