The cantonment board is enhancing security arrangements for residents, traders and shoppers, the recently deputed Cantonment executive officer, Rana Muhammad Rafique Khan, said on Thursday.

He said the board was devising a security plan with the help of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL). He said security cameras would be installed in and around the Cantonment Bazaar and other important places.

He said a control room would be set up to reduce response time.

“We are taking a package from the Ptcl in this regard. We are meeting the company representatives on Friday (today),” he said.

Replying a question about building by-laws in the Cantonment area, Khan said the board was working on it.

The plan, he said, would be finalised in two to three months.

Talking about encroachments on the Cantonment Bazaar, he said the board had a “long list” of encroachers. He said a clean up operation would be launched soon. He urged the residents and traders to extend their cooperation to the board.
