Development programme: Rs5.93b being spent on 609 schemes

Projects include health and education, water supply and drainage.

FAISALABAD:

“Rs5.93 billion is being spent for the completion of 609 uplift schemes in the four districts of the Faisalabad division,” Planning and Development Board Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi said on Thursday.

He was presiding over a meeting to discuss progress of development work in the division.

These projects would provide better health and education facilities, communication, water supply and drainage facilities.

Commissioner Sardar Akram Javed, and Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot district coordination officers were also present.

The DCOs briefed the chairman on the status of the projects.

He was told that Rs2.11 billion was being utilised for the completion of 109 schemes under the Annual Development Programme. Another Rs370 million was being spent on 147 schemes under the District Development Programme.

They said that Rs3.20 billion had been earmarked for initiating 43 projects in the under the District Development Package. As many as 310 uplift schemes were being taken up for provision of missing facilities at schools at a cost of Rs246.96 million.



Faisalabad DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said that the road from Nishatabad to Sahianwala via Dry Port would be converted into a dual carriage way at a cost of Rs200 million. He said Rs170 million would be spent on repair of Jhang Road.

Highways, Public Health Engineering, Water and Sanitation Agency and Provincial Buildings Department officials briefed the chairman about uplift schemes that had been completed recently.

The chairman directed the executing agencies to ensure that all ongoing projects were completed on time. He said the work must be regularly monitored.

The matter of computerisation of revenue record was also taken up during the meeting. The officials concerned were asked to coordinate for the provision of land record to the computer section.
