In the name of honour: Man gets life term for killing wife

Shafiq was found guilty of strangling his wife to death on June 2, 2005, at their residence.

KARACHI:
A district and sessions court sentenced a man on Wednesday to life imprisonment and fined him Rs500,000 for killing his wife in the name of honour. Shafiq was found guilty of strangling his wife to death on June 2, 2005, at their residence. The prosecution said Shafiq had killed his wife over suspicion of an extra-marital affair. The complainant, Imran, had registered a case under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code with the Surjani Town police station. Following the verdict, the court dismissed his bail and sent him to jail.
