Rs1 billion released for Narowal Sports City

Iqbal also inaugurated a hall at the school that has been constructed at a cost of Rs7.5 million.

The government has released Rs1 billion as special development fund for early establishment of an advanced Sports City in Narowal on 46 acres of land along the main Narowal-Muridke Road. This was announced by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Chaudhry Ehsan Iqbal. He said the sports city would help promote indoor and out door sports in backward areas. He was talking to reporters after reviewing the pace of construction of the project.



Iqbal said the early establishment of the Sports City would also open opportunities of holding international mega sports events there. Replying to a question, he said the PML-N government was removing all technical and legal hurdles from the way of holding peaceful Local Bodies elections.

Earlier addressing the participants at prize distribution ceremony at the Government Girls High School Narowal, the minister said that the district government had also allocated Rs3 billion for the promotion of education and provision of easy access to schools.

He said the money was also being spent on improving literacy rate in the prolonged neglected and backward areas of the bordering district. Iqbal also inaugurated a hall at the school that has been constructed at a cost of Rs7.5 million.
