No change in LB polls schedule: ECP
Polls will be held according to the Supreme Court’s order, says Secretary ECP.
Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Ishtiaq Ahmed said there would be no change in the dates announced for the local bodies election, Radio Pakistan reported.
The polls would be held according to the Supreme Court’s order, said Ahmed.
The ECP Secretary announced that the schedule for local government elections in Sindh and Punjab would be issued on December 7, 2013. The commission has urged provinces to complete preparations for the LB polls before the announcement of the schedule. Provinces would be held responsible for any further delay, warned ECP.
On November 13, the apex court had approved new dates for local body elections as recommended by ECP.
The new schedule states that elections in Sindh should be held on January 18, 2014, Punjab on January 30.
