Token of love: Funds raised for blast survivors

A British Pakistani collected around 12,000 pounds for families caught up in bombing outside All Saints Church.

A British man of Pakistani descent collected around 12,000 pounds – two million rupees – for families caught up in the bombing outside All Saints Church in Peshawar in September, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reported on Sunday. Yaqub Masih, of Salendine Nook, a lay canon at Wakefield Cathedral, was able to give 130 families hit by the attack 15,000 rupees each. “This is just a small token of love to show that we care for them and we love them and they are not alone,” he said. The money was handed over to the families during Masih’s trip to Peshawar. The money had been collected from churches across the dioceses of Wakefield and Carlisle – where isaac, son of  the former Bishop of Peshawar, is a priest. It has been boosted by Yaqub’s own fund-raising initiative through friends and colleagues in the West Yorkshire area.
