Monitoring prices: Shahbaz orders surprise visits to food markets

CM called for immediate relief to be provided to the people by setting up 150 special low-price bazaars.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday took notice of the soaring prices of vegetables and fruits and ordered officials to pay surprise visits to markets.


He instructed the elected representatives and government officials responsible for commodity price monitoring to check them thrice a day, especially in the mornings when the commodities are auctioned.

The chief minister ordered that strict action be taken against the respective heads of the market committees and those officials who were involved in corruption. He called for immediate relief to be provided to the people by setting up 150 special low-price bazaars.
